Borrow our violin

The Folk Who Roam fiddle was handmade by Sheffield-based violin maker, Emma Hardy. It has been donated to the folk community as a common asset to be taken out into the countryside and played.

If you would like to book some time with this special instrument please fill out the form below and we’ll get back to you.

A violin for the Folk

Our current project is a short film documentary about a violin maker, a folk musician and the Yorkshire landscape.

Sheffield-based violin maker Emma Hardy is bridging the gap between nature and music by designing and hand-crafting a uniquely decorated violin inspired by the Peak District’s history of folk music and land access rights.

The instrument has now been donated to the folk community to share as a ‘common asset’, we encourage players to take the instrument out into the countryside and play it in the environment that inspired it.

Make a donation to support the campaign

Funding for short films is pretty scarce, we’re currently running the production and campaign mostly through volunteers. But we think that contributions to the arts, community and culture are valuable endeavours even if they aren’t big profit-making capitalist activities.

If you agree we’d be very grateful for your financial support to help us pay artists, musicians and other creatives involved.

Our film is currently in production. Sign up to our mailing list if you want to be kept up to date on our project.
